What is RSS?

In a nutshell, RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication (or Rich Site Summary depending on who you ask!) and it is an automated way to distribute news to other websites, fansites, blogs or just about any place. That little orange RSS icon means our site has an RSS news feed that you can access for free!

What are the benefits of RSS?

RSS is an easy way for you to be alerted when content that interests you appears on Pogo.com. Instead of visiting a particular Web site to browse for new articles and features, RSS automatically tells you when something new is posted online. Click on the section title link to obtain the RSS URL, which you will see in the "Address" field of your browser. Simply copy this URL and follow the instructions for your particular news reader to subscribe.

How do I get started using RSS?

  1. Get an RSS reader. You can download an RSS reader program that will display all your favorite RSS news feeds in one place. Search the web and I'm sure it won't take you long to find an RSS reader that is right for you. An RSS news reader will allow you to have RSS news feeds delivered right to your computer without ever having to open a web browser!
  2. Web-Based Services

All of these services are free, and will work with any recent Web browser.

  3. Subscribe to content areas of interest. Click on any of the checkboxes in the column at left to add content to your Pogo feed. Once you've made your choices, click "Create Custom Feed." On the next page, just click the name of your feed reader if it's listed in the "Subscribe Now" box. If it's not, copy the URL from that box into your feed reader, following the instructions provided with the program.
  4. Read the latest from Pogo. Your RSS reader will periodically retrieve the latest additions to any of the feeds you've chosen. If you're using a feed reader built into a browser or other desktop application, updates will most likely appear automatically. For Web-based feed readers, you'll need to visit the service's site to get your updates.
